EEN ZOEKTOCHT NAAR DE STAND VAN DE ZEE >
The village of Yerseke in the province of Zeeland, part of the municipality Reimerswaal, is situated on the southern shore of the Eastern Scheldt sea-arm. About 6.500 people live here. The local economy depends on aquaculture and tourism.
The Royal NIOZ facilities in Yerseke are located a few miles east on a sea dike, overlooking the Eastern Scheldt. Today a National Park, this world-renowned former estuary still holds a large variety of unique sea life, including a rich benthic fauna.
