On Texel, there are several day care centers and primary schools. For the smallest ones, babies that are at least ten weeks old, De Pepermolen in Oosterend offers a day care service from Monday to Friday (07.00 – 18.30). They have a shuttle service to and from the Royal NIOZ. After 24 months babies move on to the preschooler category.
For kids that are four years old, primary school is compulsory in the Netherlands. The largest school is the Jac. P. Thijsseschool in Den Burg. Several “NIOZ-kids” follow classes there. For secondary education options please visit the website of De Hogeberg.
